How To Tune Your Guitar Using GarageBand. 1) Your guitar is plugged into your audio interface in the computer, so it’s as simple as clicking on the tuning fork beside the center of the DAW where it shows the time signature, tempo, and key signature. Apr 10, 2015 Question: Q: How to record on GarageBand with a mixer. So hey, after I've solved my problem with how to connect my mixer to my mac, there's another problem that came out. I'm trying to record on GarageBand and when I do the first track all seem good. But then if I try to record to a second track it automatically records all the previous tracks.
While many would argue that the only way to accurately capture an electric guitar performance is by mic’ing up your amplifier and hitting record, in my latest video I share 3 ways that you can directly input your guitar into your Mac so that you can record it in GarageBand.
Directly inputting (or ‘DI-ing’) your instrument in this way gives you more control over how your recording sounds if you choose to use Garageband’s built in amp designer and/or Audio Unit plug ins.

Greetings, Yes, a USB input device of this type should be recognized in Garageband preferences under the Audio/MIDI tab. There is a pop down menu there. When a USB device that is Mac compatible is plugged in it should show up there. Then you should be able to use the lessons, and it should recognize the guitar. You can also record the guitar with Garageband using the built in effects which are quite awesome. I recommend you use headphones, but you can also use the computer speakers to hear the guitar.
